African Caribbean Approaches to Breast Cancer

Your attention Please... The Black woman's survival guide

It's time for a wake up call. The fact is Breast Cancer affects all women unfortunately, Black women tend to be diagnosed at a late stage for breast cancer, and we are 28 percent more likely to die from the disease than white women. But we can change that if we make our well being our priority. Betterdays focuses on helping African Caribbean navigate the breast cancer pathway through to surviourship.

We hope our examples will remind you and your loved ones to perform monthly breast self- exams and for older women of 50 to take up their free invitations for breast screening. We can save ourselves. E-mail me at info@betterday.uk.com and let me know what you're doing to raise awareness and protect yourself.  If there's one message you can take away from this, know that breast cancer is not a death sentance.

This truth may come as a relief in an age when black women, although less likely to get Breast Cancer than their white counterparts are more likely to die from it when they do. "finding breast cancer early-before it has spread from the breast-means a 97percent five-year survival rate,". Betterdays are working toward keeping that statistic strong. Together,  we've shown why it's important that women in their twenties, thirites, forties and beyond stay on the front lines of the fight against the most common cancer in Black women. We're committed to the cause until there is a cure for breast cancer. United we cure Betterdays salute powerful women .
