Coping with Hair Loss
Often there can be little consideration for the specific hair care needs for People from black and minority ethnic groups. Frequently options of wigs in hospitals are very limited. In particular, those offered to black men and women often don't match the natural texture of their hair.
This was certainly the experience for Marina Raime, who faced the difficulty of hair loss whilst receiving chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. “Seeing my hair fall out wasn’t so upsetting. It was very disappointing not having information and access to companies offering a range of suitable wigs; this could have made all the difference to my recovery.
