What is a pathology report?
If you have any signs and symptoms of cancer it is likely that you will need to have some tests. One of these tests could be the gathering of the tissue and cells which are suspected of being cancer from your body. In order to have detailed information about what is happening inside your body a pathologist (a doctor with specialist knowledge of cells and tissues) will look at your cells. The result of their work will be a pathology report which gives detailed information about your test results including which tests were performed and a description of the cells including whether or not any abnormalities were found. The report may be used to form the basis of a diagnosis of cancer.
