Who we are
Betterdays cancer care is a non-profit programme inspired and driven by the voice and message of service users. Betterdays Cancer care was established to raise the voice of young BME women being diagnosed with Triple negative and ER/PR Negative breast cancer. Betterdays Breast health programme BBHP was founded in 2002 by Marina Raime a breast cancer survivor, in order to address the inequalities in health and social care provision.  Betterdays has worked tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of young African Caribbean women by taking an active role in a number of government groups and advisory panels;

Betterdays is dedicated to raising awareness and reducing the impact of cancer in BME communities. Through the provision of breast Health education and awareness campaigns, we encourage healthier living and facilitate proactive cancer prevention by creating public awareness about cancer risks, promoting early detection and creating awareness of the signs and symptoms thus encouraging the uptake of cancer screening.

Abi Ajose-Adeogun
Abi Ajose-Adeogun obtained a BSc. in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham in 2000 and a MSc. in Clinical Biochemistry with Molecular Biology in 2001. Having obtained her qualifications she started her career in the Pharmaceutical Industry working firstly for an American biotechnology company, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, based at the UK branch in Oxfordshire as a Research Associate. Whilst at this post she worked on a number of projects that explored the biology of cancer, researched possible drug targets and developed biological tests to evaluate the effectiveness of potential drugs. After fours years at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Abi accepted a position at the multinational pharmaceutical company Novartis where she worked as a Scientific Associate at the Novartis Horsham Research Centre in West Sussex where she used her strong research skills on a number of key projects.
After five years of working in the Pharmaceutical Industry in the laboratory setting Abi decided, in 2007, to explore a different side of research by becoming a Scientific Programme Manager at the National Cancer Research Institute in London where she is worked on an Informatics Project as part of a multi-disciplinary team of IT developers and scientists. The aim of this project was to ensure that the data and information generated in cancer research has the greatest impact on our understanding, future treatment and the prevention of cancer. Abi now works with Better Days Cancer Care where she is contributing to the development and implementation of the UK's first Patient Navigation Programme. In addition Abi  has embarked on a MSc in Public Health with the aim of acquiring the skills needed to evaluate cancer at a population level allowing her to focus on cancer prevention strategies specifically on prevention through a healthy lifestyle.
